At the beginning of Chapter 1 , there is reference to the problem of definition of private client. In view of this it has been necessary, but difficult, to define the scope of the text, although the subtitle to this book has helped to a considerable extent. We have had the benefit of helpful, and often long, discussions with many practitioners, from whose suggestions we hope to have arrived at a consensus.
